Insecure Writers welcome to the Yellow Submarine!

Howdy, Insecure Writers! You were recommended to me by Candi!  Thanks to the amazing Alex J. Cavanaugh for hosting this awesome group. Go check out the other participants too.

I do all my upbeat
positive blogging
over at Seize the day.
This is my backyard,
you know, you can't see it
from the street,
and in keeping with
the spirit of the Yellow Submarine,
I'm going to write
everything here in broken prose,
that's how I feel about my writing anyway.

My story...
I've been writing for almost fifteen years
with modest success:
I have 30 mostly educational
picture books and easy readers
and around 1000 articles.

Here's the deal -- I really truly am a novelist.
I've had about 50 rejections a year,
since I began submitting
Here's the list of 7 novels:
Fractals, followed by Tornado Allie,
then Jimmer, Eating Snot, Crying for the Moon,
then Plumb Crazy and now Profit.
and they have received  around 750 no's.

I am afraid.
Of what?
That no one is ever going to read my books.

The  no's haven't all been bad.
Agents and editors have read many of my works
and they are liked universally,
but not loved, and you need someone to love your work,
everyone says so,
all you need is love.
Love is all you need.

My biggest dilemma --
I hunger
for readers to find my stories
to love them.
The need gnaws at my insides.
I don't know which way to go.
I mean,
I'm the insecure writer
and it's complicated.

Enough of my drama already,
I will save some for next month.

Telling someone does help.
Thank you for your time.
In the words of the great poet
Sir Paul McCartney,
"We all live in a yellow submarine."
